With a low carbon future an imperative for Governments globally, the Australian Federal Government is placing renewed emphasis on the development and deployment of low emissions technologies with its $5.1 billion Clean Energy Initiative and the establishment of the Renewable Energy Future Fund.

Whilst billions of dollars are being invested, proving the commercial viability of CCS projects is still a major stumbling block in progressing the research and development that is being undertaken.

1st International Conference on E-waste for the Asia-Pacific Region
and 1st StEP Workshop on E-waste for the Asia-Pacific Region

Electronic and electrical waste, commonly known as e-waste, is becoming a major global issue with around 40-50 million tonnes generated each year. Griffith University, with the support of the Solving the E-Waste Problem (StEP) Initiative, United Nations University, United Nations Environment Program and the Basel Convention, will hold the first major International Conference and StEP Workshop on E-waste for the Asia-Pacific Region in Brisbane, Australia.

The main objective of the conference is to inform the workshop, which will deliver the Brisbane Declaration towards a Strategy for Managing E-waste in Asia-Pacific Region. This declaration will contribute to a United Nations global declaration on e-waste.
